On Saturday night two of my top RL fitspirations and i were talking about healthy eating, diets, and working out. One is the owner of a nutrition shop and the other is the owner and master teacher of my tae kwon do academy. Both are in ridiculous shape; they are very close and do the majority of their exercises/diets together. I started to tell them about my serious problem with overeating - how I feel I have a real addiction to food and how I am frustrated beyond belief at my inability to stick with diets. TKD friend told me to stop being so hard on myself and that she’d be intergrating some great fat burners into our TKD classes, Nutrition Friend said I already accomplished most people struggle hardest with - the majority of my diet is clean and healthy. Now I just have to work on portions. Then my TKD Friend made a comment that really surprised me, “You’re so hard on yourself. You have some incredible athletesism. When I see you train it’s so obvious. I noticed it the most when we went wakeboarding (they both came wakeboarding with my family and I over the summer) - you have an incredible natural talent. I think with the 100 Day Challenge coming up and your juicing plan working together you’re going to really shine.” And I felt tears welling up behind my eyes. These women who have dedicated their lives to living healthy and fit, who are amazing athletes and a force to be reckoned with, think I’m an amazing athlete. These women for some reason have faith in me and my journey and believe whole heartedly that I can and will do this. Such unexpected and sincere words of confidence struck a chord with me - I never expected them to say such things. It makes me powerful. It makes me want to take everyday between this moment and my UGW and work my hardest to be the person everyone else sees.
The 100 Day Challenge starts on Feb 1, and is 100 constecutive days of exercising for at least 30 mins. a day. Certain exercises give you bonus pts, and whoever has the most pts. wins a prize. My Nutrition Friend does it each year through her store, so the prize is something healthy and awesome and straight from her goodies. My number 1 workout I know will be TKD because it takes the place of a gym for me, and classes are offered 6 days a week. It’s perfect. Coupled with my juicing diet, this will be a receipe for fat-obliteration.

I had the first juice of my juice diet today, and it was actually quite scrumptious. Here’s what my recipe consisted of:
- 4 leaves of Kale
- 4 strawberries
- 2 stalks of Celery
- 2 Carrots
- 1 Apple
- small piece of Ginger root
The Kale makes the drink a forest-y green color but don’t let that scare you! My boyfriend (who is the one who suggested this whole diet) was really put off by it. I, however, enjoyed the taste a great deal more than I had anticipated. I’m excited about the idea of juicing because it’ a fantastic way to get a ton of micro-nutrients in all at once. It would be difficult and time-consuming to eat the amount of raw fruits and veggies that would equal what you’re drinking, which makes it ideal for those who are trying to up their 5 servings a day.
I’m going to try to start taking pictures of my juices, before and after, to give you all a better idea of what I’m doing and what it looks like. I meant to take a picture today but I ran out of time :/ Also - if you’re interested in trying some sort of juicing regiment of your own I’d recommend the Jack LaLanne juicer I have. It’s about $130 bucks, but it’s one of the best juicers on the market that’s actually affordable. As much as I’d like to have one, there is no way in hell I can afford to spend $300-$500 on a juicer.
Happy Juicing.
